David Nislick, Ph.D.
Chief Executive Officer
David Nislick is the Chief Executive Officer for Excelitas Technologies Corp.
Prior to being named CEO of Excelitas Technologies, Mr. Nislick served as the President of the Illumination and Detection Solutions (IDS) business unit of PerkinElmer. As part of Veritas Capital’s acquisition of PerkinElmer’s IDS business in November 2010, Mr. Nislick was appointed CEO in the newly re-launched company.
As President of IDS, Mr. Nislick had general management responsibility for the $300 million IDS business, which included specialty lighting, sensors and other high-performance products for a variety of medical, analytical, industrial, and defense applications. Prior to the creation of IDS in late 2008, Mr. Nislick held various leadership positions within PerkinElmer including President of the Lighting business and Vice President of Business Development for PerkinElmer Optoelectronics.
Prior to joining PerkinElmer, Mr. Nislick held senior marketing and corporate development roles with Corning Incorporated, Oak Industries and Axsun Technologies.
David holds a B.A. in Economics from Middlebury College and Master’s and Doctorate Degrees in Business Economics from Harvard Business School.
James Rao
Chief Financial Officer
James Rao is the Chief Financial Officer for Excelitas Technologies Corp.
Prior to being named CFO of Excelitas Technologies, Mr. Rao served as the CFO of the Illumination and Detection Solutions (IDS) business unit of PerkinElmer. As part of Veritas Capital’s acquisition of PerkinElmer’s IDS business unit in November 2010, Mr. Rao retained his position as CFO in the newly re-launched company.
Mr. Rao previously served as the CFO for TransMedics, Inc., a venture-backed medical technology company from 2005 to 2009. During Mr. Rao’s career, he has held senior finance and business development roles with Hewlett Packard, Philips and Medtronic. He began his career in the corporate finance group at Deloitte & Touche.
Jim holds an M.B.A. from Babson College and a B.S. in Economics from the Wharton School at the University of Pennsylvania.
Michael Messier
VP & Chief HR Officer
Michael Messier is Vice President and Chief Human Resources Officer for Excelitas Technologies Corp.
As Vice President and Chief Human Resources Officer, Mr. Messier is responsible for developing the company’s global human resources strategy and leading core initiatives that attract, engage, retain and develop a strong global team to support Excelitas’ future growth.
Prior to joining Excelitas Technologies, Mr. Messier served as Vice President of global human resources at Starent Networks Corp., a leading provider of telecommunications infrastructure solutions, where he was responsible for scaling the global human resource function to enable growth. Previously, he held senior management roles at Monster Worldwide, Inc., Progress Software Corporation, IBM/Rational Software Corp. and Open Market, Inc.
Michael holds a B.S. in Human Resource Management from the University of Massachusetts Dartmouth and an M.B.A. from Rivier College.
Steven E. Boyce
Vice President, General Counsel and Secretary
Steven E. Boyce is Vice President, General Counsel and Secretary of Excelitas Technologies Corp.
Prior to being named Vice President, General Counsel and Secretary for Excelitas Technologies, Mr. Boyce served as Senior Corporate Counsel for the Mobility Internet Technology Group within Cisco Systems, where he was the lead legal counsel for that business unit.
Prior to the acquisition of Starent Networks by Cisco Systems, Mr. Boyce was the Associate General Counsel for Starent Networks and was instrumental in setting up the legal function in a pre- and post-IPO environment, along with working on global commercial deals with leading wireless service providers. Prior to Starent Networks, Mr. Boyce served as Vice President and General Counsel for the Americas and Asia Pacific Theater of Getronics, the successor to Wang Laboratories. During Mr. Boyce’s career he has also held leadership roles with a number of well-regarded law firms such as Hale and Dorr (now Wilmer Hale), Skadden, Arps, Meagher & Flom, Kirkland and Ellis, and Sheehan, Phinney, Bass & Green.
Mr. Boyce earned his JD degree from Harvard Law School and holds a Bachelor of Liberal Studies degree from the University of Iowa. He is admitted to the federal and state bars in Massachusetts, New Hampshire, and Illinois.
Joel Falcone
Senior VP & General Manager, Lighting
Joel Falcone is Senior Vice President and General Manager of the global lighting business of Excelitas Technologies.
Prior to his appointment with Excelitas Technologies, Mr. Falcone held numerous leadership positions with PerkinElmer. During his eight-year tenure, Mr. Falcone served as Vice President and Chief Financial Officer for PerkinElmer Optoelectronics.
Before joining PerkinElmer in 2002, Mr. Falcone held a variety of leadership positions with market-leading, high-tech companies such as Philips Electronics and RF Micro Devices. He has also helped to drive profitable growth for several venture-backed start-up companies in Silicon Valley.
Joel holds an M.B.A. from San Jose State University and a B.S. in Finance from the University of Arizona. Joel is also a Certified Management Accountant.
Michael Ersoni
Senior VP & General Manager, Detection
Michael Ersoni is Senior Vice President and General Manager of the global detection business of Excelitas Technologies.
Since joining PerkinElmer in 1985, and prior to his appointment with Excelitas Technologies, Mr. Ersoni has held numerous leadership positions across PerkinElmer. Mr. Ersoni served as Vice President and General Manager for PerkinElmer’s commercial sensors business, general manager of the industrial sensors business, and has held a variety of engineering leadership and product marketing positions spanning applications engineering and new product development.
Michael holds an M.Eng from McMaster University and an M.B.A. from Queens University. Mr. Ersoni is a Certified Management Accountant.
Doug Benner
Senior VP & General Manager, Advanced Electronic Systems
Doug Benner is Senior Vice President and General Manager of the Advanced Electronic Systems business of Excelitas Technologies.
Prior to his appointment with Excelitas Technologies, Mr. Benner spent the previous four years as the vice president and general manager of PerkinElmer’s military/aerospace business. Earlier, Mr. Benner held a variety positions with PerkinElmer Optoelectronics including product platform manager, site operations leader, multi-site operations leader, and military/aerospace product line leader.
Before joining PerkinElmer in 1996, Mr. Benner was co-owner of The Laser & Photonics Center, a company specializing in laser materials processing for the industrial market. He also spent several years in manufacturing and management roles with Monsanto and EG&G. Mr. Benner has one patent and has authored several technical publications.
Doug holds a B.S. in Electrical Engineering from Ohio University and an M.S. in Electrical Engineering from The University of Dayton.
